CUVÉE GERONTAMPELO ASSYRTIKO 2022 PDO Santorini
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ARGYROS
This release features two more very high-end Santorini ARGYROS Assyrtikos on top of their three recent $80+ July 18 releases. This 2022 has a light yellow colour with a slightly spicy, faintly honeyed, ripe, wintermelon, Mirabelle plum nose with some gently toasty, minerally notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, fairly dense, slightly spicy, minerallly, lifted, lemon-apple-meringue-leaning flavours with a lingering, harmonious finish. This 2022 was fermented in French oak followed by 12 months barrel aging and then another 12 months on fine lees in stainless steel vats. It is well textured and seems quite ready-to-drink. It has 15% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 7 g/L total acidity with lot number L2103034 on the back label. NEW in Vintages. CSPC 51196

TASTING NOTE: Sourced from ungrafted Assyrtiko vines aged 180-200 years, this wine was fermented in French oak and then aged in oak for one year with a second year spent in stainless steel. It's floral, rich and complex, with good balance, tangy citrus, herbs, mineral, and touches of oak spice. This incredible wine has the potential to see 2040+. Price $ 116.95
