ASSYRTIKO 2024 PGI Achaia, Greece
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MEGA SPILEO
Bright pale straw colour, it has a still somewhat shy, slightly spicy, floral, lemon-apple-melon nose with some mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, bright, youthful, lemon-apple-melon flavours with a bright, minerally, very faintly savoury, crisp finish. Aged for three months on its lees in a combination of 80% steel tanks and 20% new oak, it has 12.6% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L25262 on the back label. It works perfectly with tempura, sushi and seafood - especially oysters. This is the 4th consecutive vintage release but, unfortunately, the LCBO has now arbitrarily set the price at $24.95 - an incomprehensible undeserved $5 increase over last year CSPC 31680

TASTING NOTE: This Assyrtiko was fermented mostly in stainless steel but 20% was fermented in new oak, adding additional richness, complexity and depth to the final wine. It's aromatic and intense, with pineapple, peach, grapefruit, dried herbs, and a sharply defined mineral character. A wine for all things fish. Price $ 24.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
