CUVÉE EVDEMON ASSYRTIKO 2022 PDO Santorini
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ARGYROS
Tasted on September 2 with several other top Argyros Assyrtikos. The Evdemon cuvee was made from 150+ year old ungrafted vines in the higher altitude Pyrgos region. It has a forward bright medium yellow colour with an intense, slightly spicy (black-cardomom-tinged), very ripe, lemon-apple-melon meringue nose with toasty, complex, minerally notes. There was also a dash of wet stone and sea salt. Dry, full bodied, well structured, intense, complex, fairly cedary, ripe, wintermelon-apple-lemon flavours with a lingering, bright, minerally finish. It has 14.5% alcohol, under 2 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 6.6 g/L total acidity. It was aged for 30 months on fine lees in stainless steel with 25% fermented in French oak for 12 months.
