NARANJO TORONTEL ORANGE WINE 2024 Loncomilla, Valle del Maule, Chile
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MATURANA
This 2024 award-winning Chilean orange wine is the best of all three Vintages releases to date - a great buy for fans of orange wine!. It has a very pale orange colour and an attractive, gently perfumed, spicy, ripe tangerine citrus nose. Dry, medium bodied, spicy, bright, citrusy, ripe tangerine flavours with a gently complex, nicely textured, lingering, crisp finish. The highly perfumed Torontel grape has close genetic ties with Torrontes. Aged for 9 months in concrete eggs, it has 13.5% alcohol and only 1.5 g/L residual sugar. Versatile and ready-to-drink, it is the perfect go-to summer anytime-anywhere refresher. CSPC 556217

TASTING NOTE: Such a spicy torontel that shows aromas of Indian spices, turmeric, dried kumquats, Aperol liqueur and rosemary. It has a light orange-copper color. The aromas echo on the palate. Tannic, nicely chewy and structured, with a long, bone-dry finish. Delicious. You should enjoy this with something exotically spicy, like Indian or Nepali cuisine. Drink or hold [through 2028+]. Ranked #36 in James Suckling's Top 100 Wines of Chile 2025. Score - 94 Zekun Shuai, jamessuckling.com, Feb. 17, 2025) Price $ 24.95
