| This ultra small batch (only 99 cases produced) Pinot Blanc has a bright light yellow colour. On the nose it has a fairly rich, faintly honeyed, floral, ripe, wintermelon-tangerine-citrus-pear fruit with minerally-saline-tinged notes and a touch of buttered toast. Dry, medium bodied, nicely textured, ripe, melon-citrus flavours with a lingering, complex, bright, harmonious finish. This quite ready-to-enjoy 2023 was bottled on May 1, 2025 and has 13% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar. Kirby’s 27-year-old vines are directly related to Pinot Noir and permitted in Burgundy. In fact, years ago Bachelder produced Savigny-les-Beaune exclusively from this grape. It compares well to Italy’s pricier outstanding Alois Lageder releases from the Alto Adige and is worthy of a detour! |
