HANAGAKI TANADAMAI JUNMAI DAIGINJO SAKE Fukui, Japan
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer NAMBU
Very pale straw colour. Elegant, lifted, faintly honeyed, fresh, Anjou pear aromatics with a very slight hint of papaya. Just off dry, medium bodied, well textured, slightly spicy, refined, ripe, wintermelon flavours with some floral-honeysuckle notes on the lingering, lifted, harmonious finish. This wonderfully smooth albeit bright mouthfilling elixir might best be savoured just under room temperature. It will pair well with anything! Crafted with Gohyakumangoku rice, it has 15.5% alcohol and 22 g/L residual sugar with lot number 2025.12 on the back label. It is NEW in Vintages and only 90 cases are available in some 60 LCBO outlets.

TASTING NOTE: This sake is crafted from Gohyakumangoku rice; a strain renowned for the crisp character of the sake it produces. Gohyakumangoku was at the forefront of the surge in popularity of dry and light sake in the 1980s and helped establish a new premium-sake dynamic. \"Tanadamai\" means \"terraced rice\" and refers to the plantings in the Hakusan mountain foothills. Try this at brunch with a cheese omelette.
