WISMER-WINGFIELD SINGLE VINEYARD CHARDONNAY 2022 VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BACHELDER
This ripe 2022 has a medium yellow colour and a intense, somewhat spicy, very ripe, lemon-apple meringue nose with some fairly bright, pear-tinged, buttery-toasty notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well textured, very slightly spicy, toasty, ripe, fairly rich, lemon-apple-melon flavours with a long, lingering, gently minerally, harmonious finish. It is ready-to-drink and would go well with a lobster bisque, Cornish hen and/or veal scallopini. It has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. CSPC 345819

TASTING NOTE: 1000m further south from Wismer-Foxcroft, on the same street, with 50m more elevation, (169m total), so Thomas harvests this 10 days later, and it's his latest ripening parcel. Planted in 1999 in magnesium-oxide and dolomitic limestone clays / silts. This has an alluring fine grip, with noticeable extract and lemon pith gliding over a fine cream base, lit with an inherent buzzy texture, stunning. Super long on the mineral-driven finish.
