| ALAZANI VALLEY RED 2021 Kakheti |
| Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
OLD MARANI |
This traditional gently sweet bright red is made with ripe Saperavi grapes and has a huge following in Georgia where it pairs perfectly with the local cuisine. The plum-driven nose has some figgy caramel notes along with a touch of Concord jelly. Gently sweet, harmonious, medium bodied and nicely textured, the bright, ripe, plum jam flavours have good persistence and balance with a lingering lift on the finish. Ready-to-drink, it might be served a tad chilled. It has 12% alcohol and according to the LCBO 40 g/L residual sugar with lot number 30.10.2025 on the back label.

| TASTING NOTE: The reduced saperavi syrup style is here in a semi-sweet red of heritage and culture. An imperative as far as red Georgian wines are concerned and a hallmark card of one if ever there was. Sweet messaging, equal acidity to match line for line and stride for stride. Good spacing and spicing with better length than before. Drink 2024- 2026. Tasted September 2024. Score - 88 (Michael Godel, winealign.com) |
