PINOT MEUNIER NATURAL BRUT SPARKLING 2019 VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment, traditional method
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note

Bright light yellow colour. Fairly intense, very slightly spicy, minerally, faintly lemony, ripe yellow apple nose with some slightly toasty-leesy notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite nicely textured, modestly effervescent, rounded, ripe, apple-wintermelon flavours with a lingering, faintly toasty finish. This new batch of 2019 has seen a lengthy 5 years on the lees and is now quite forward and very ready-to-drink. Any freshness is gone, but it works well with food even if the sparkle is diminished. It has 12.8% alcohol with low dosage (about 3 g/L residual sugar). The is no lot number on the bottle which means that unfortunately you will not be able to tell weather it spent some 30 months on the lees back in June 2023 (as per the current quoted LCBO tasting note) or actually 60 months for batch which is being sold today.

TASTING NOTE: ... Next to if not zero dosage in a feathery, oxidative, ever so lightly toasted example of pinot dominated sparkling wine. Actually shows some richness and creamy character on the palate and so along with the direct and intense leaning aromas there is nothing but winning combination on offer. Good tannic presence at the finish so this should continue to age gracefully. Drink 2023-2026. Tasted blind at NWAC2023, June 2023. Score - 91 (Michael Godel, winealign.com)
