FOURCHAUME CHABLIS 1ER CRU 2023 AOC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer DOMAINE YVON & LAURENT VOCORET
This 2023 Fourchaume has a bright light yellow colour. The nose is very attractive and intense with mineral-driven, ripe, lemon-apple meringue fruit along with some complex, gently toasty notes. Dry, medium-plus bodied and well structured with intense, fairly complex, bright, ripe, lemon-apple meringue flavours followed up by a lingering, mineral-tinged, rich, gently toasty, bright finish. Try with seafood, white meats and/or poultry - the best is yet to come. Great Chablis often requires patience - three to ten years of cool cellar aging. Aged sur lees for 10 months, it has 13% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number LF23 on the lower part of the glass bottle. To be retasted again shortly. CSPC 22776

TASTING NOTE: This is a terrific Fourchaume from Vocoret, rich, dense, intense and concentrated all the while remaining in the firm and sharp, chiselled Chablis idiom, with genuine, honest flavour depth, nourished by lees ageing, also clearly very ripe - a part of the fruit is harvested slightly later to boost density. Length and depth are excellent - a brilliant bottle at a highly attractive price. Chablis lovers rejoice. Best from 2026 - it should have a long drinking window, just needs a few more months to come together. Tasted March 2025. Score - 93 (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com) Price $ 58.95
