VICTORIA BLOCK GAMAY 2023 VQA Prince Edward County
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer GRANGE OF PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY
From older vines on the estate's Victoria Block this Gamay sparks with impressive intensity and energy. The nose is very lifted with cranberry/cherry, considerable oak, nutmeg, pepper and pink rose florals. It is mid-weight, tart and sour-edged with volatiles just below the surface. Quite fine texture with modest tannins. The length is excellent, indeed impressive fruit concentration and and very juicy! Reviewed by fellow wine writer David Lawrason. It has 12% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. Screwcap closure. CSPC 49216

TASTING NOTE: Tart-sweet red berries, cherries, and cranberries lead unabashedly here, with pleasing undertones of dried herbs and violets. I love that the palate telegraphs its Prince Edward County origin - there is energy and a feeling of lightness on the palate - lively acidity, tart red fruit, and fine, almost non-existent tannins. The finish is cheerful and perky. Tasted Nov. 2025. Score - 91. (Megha Jandhyala, S.J.D., winealign.com) Price $ 25.95
