| PIAN DELLE VIGNE BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2019 DOCG, sustainable |
| Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
ANTINORI |
| Antinori’s 100% Sangiovese Grosso has a fairly deep purple-red colour. Attractive, slightly spicy, gently cedary, complex, expansive, ripe, plum-cassis-crancherry nose with some sandalwood-tinged notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, fairly dense and quite well structured with very slightly spicy, ripe, plum-crancherry-cassis flavours and a lingering, cedar-tinged, minerally, bright finish. Aged for two years in a variety of large oak casks (30 to 80 hl) and then another year in bottle before being released. This 2019 repeat has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with a new lot number L2146 on the lower part of the glass bottle (the March 29th release had lot number L2138). |

| TASTING NOTE: Sweet black cherries with some blackberries, as well as cherry blossom in both the nose and palate. Medium to full body with firm tannins and a chewy finish, but it will soften and come together nicely with bottle age. Try after 2025 [into the mid-2030s]. Score - 94 (jamessuckling.com, Sept. 13, 2023) |
