| This classy Rhone-inspired blend of 95% Marsanne, 3% Viognier and 2% Pinot Gris has a bright medium straw colour and an attractive nose that's slightly spicy, faintly toasty and quite complex with ripe, citrus-tinged, lemon-apple meringue fruit. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious and surprisingly well structured with ripe, lemon-apple-citrusy flavours followed up by a lingering, minerally finish. Versatile and ready-to-drink - great with oysters, seafood and poultry. It has a hefty 14% alcohol, 3.4 g/L residual sugar and 5.8 g/L total acidity with lot number 2021-09-30 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Ten months of extended lees aging in previously-used French 500 litre oak explains the excellent silky mouthfeel. Only 1,022 cases made, it includes vines originally introduced by Kew’s award-winning winemaker Philip Dowell who made this award-winning 2020. Screwcap closure. |

| TASTING NOTE: Marsanne is a variety from the south of France that is a bit of an anomaly in Niagara, but it has survived the vagaries of humidity and winters quite well, to provide us with this nifty example. It captures the exotic, lifted lemon-orange, herbal/minty notions of the grape very well, with a sort of marmalade sweetness and bitterness. It is medium-full bodied, a touch sweet, but balanced by alcohol warmth and bitterness. The length is excellent. This is a total surprise ... Last tasted Sept. 2024.
