PRIVATE RESERVE PINOT NOIR 2022 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer PELLER
NEW in Vintages. Mature slightly ambering medium ruby colour with an attractive, slightly spicy, bright, fairly juicy, ripe, raspberry-plum fruit nose with a hint of toast. Dry, medium bodied leaning on the lightish side of the equation, harmonious, bright, slightly spicy, elegant, raspberry-plum flavours with a lingering, fairly crisp, very faintly toasty finish. Tasty and quite ready-to-drink, this 2022 was fermented in small batches and then barrel aged for 10 months in neutral (older) French oak barrels with full malolactic fermentation to soften the mouthfeel. This blend of six different barrel lots would work very well with salmon, as well as your upcoming Thanksgiving turkey. It has only 12.1% alcohol and 1.6 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. TASTING NOTE: This Pinot was given 10 to 15 days of skin contact during vinification and was aged for 10 months in neutral French oak barrels. Sleek, satiny and elegant, it evokes cherry and pomegranate along with earthy notes and hints of dried mushroom. A lovely choice for duck confit, filet mignon or a mushroom risotto. Serve slightly chilled and savour through 2028. Price $ 29.95
