NAOUSSA XINOMAVRO 2021 PDO Naoussa, Macedonia |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
BOUTARI |
This outstanding 100% Xinomavro from Naoussa has a medium-deep faintly amber tinged garnet red colour and a gently floral, rose petal nose with some slightly earthy, ripe, Damson plum fruit. Very dry, medium bodied, gently complex, ripe crancherry-plum flavours with a lingering, bright, minerally, nicely structured, refreshing finish. Showing well now, it is perfect with springtime lamb. Aged in oak for 12 months, it has 12.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L43130748 on the capsule. |

TASTING NOTE: This wine is one of the first reds to be sold internationally under a PDO designation. Boutari have been exposing the world to high-class Greek wine for five generations. Their flagship Xinomavro is dry, tart and richly detailed, with notes of sour raspberry, sun-dried tomato, black olive, and a hint of cinnamon. Serve it tonight after a half-hour decant or cellar into the early 2030s. |
