This world class Méthode traditionnelle sparkling Thirty Bench Riesling has a bright pale straw colour. The very attractive, slightly spicy, floral, complex, ripe orange-citrus-lemon-melon-apple nose has some minerally-toasty notes. Dry, medium bodied, well textured, fairly intense, very bright, ripe, apple-lemon-melon meringue flavours with a, lingering, effervescent, toasty, ripe apricot finish. Delicious and quite ready-to-drink, it was tiraged in March 2021 and spent 14 months on the lees (disgorged on May 6, 2022). This NWAC Gold Medal winner has 12% alcohol and 7.3 g/L residual sugar with a hefty 11.1 g/L total acidity (lot number 30590000L5 on the lower part of the glass bottle). Only 2,844 bottles were produced in this fifth disgorging on May 6, 2022. The final base wine was made from two batches of estate hand-picked Riesling wine - the first from September 30, 2019 (67%) and the second from September 15, 2020 (33%). |

TASTING NOTE: Been some time since last tasting the cracker of cracker sparkling rieslings and sometimes a higher yearning, learning and ripeness of fruit will make hay with its scintillant host. As is the case with this most recent Thirty Bench aged on lees for 12 months. No loss of zest or appetite for the crunchy one and yet get a mouthful from a bite into a dripping August nectarine.
