TRIUS RED 2022 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TRIUS
This just-tasted Vintages Essential has a fairly deep purple garnet red colour. Bright, ripe, Damson plum nose with some hints of black cherry
and cassis along with gently toasty notes. Dry, medium plus bodied, nicely structured, still youthful, ripe, plum-crancherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, lifted, very faintly savoury finish. Still quite youthful, it would be great with a steak. Each component of this blend of 51% Cabernet Franc, 26% Merlot and 23% Cabernet Sauvignon was barrel aged separately in 60% French oak and 40% American oak barrels for 6 months (with malolactic fermentation) and then blended together and aged a further 6 months in oak. It has 13.1% alcohol, 2.4 g/L residual sugar and 5.9 g/L total acidity.
