| MEDITERANO PLAVAC MALI 2019 Hvar Island, South Dalmatia |
| Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
BLADEL 1862 |
| NEW in Vintages. Croatia’s indigenous Plavic Maliu grape is related to Zinfandel which becomes evident once tasted. Medium-deep garnet colour, the nose shows ripe, plum-red-cherry-raspberry fruit with some faintly savoury notes. Dry, medium bodied, faintly spicy, bright, plum-crancherry flavours with a lingering, very faintly earthy finish. Refreshing and ready-to-drink, it works well with casual cuisine - from wintery vegetarian stews to burgers. Half of the wine was aged for one year in Slavonian oak. It has 13% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. |

| TASTING NOTE: Badel 1862 is one of the largest, most important producers of wine and spirits in Croatia. This is a characterful, authentic Plavac Mali variety grown on terraced sites on the island of Hvar off the Dalmatian coast. It has red fruit, savoury herbs, pepper and earth, with a lithe, lifted feel. Drink it by 2026. |
