DISTINCTION BARREL FERMENTED CHARDONNAY 2023 VQA Niagara Penninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
TRIUS |
Bright medium straw colour. Intense, somewhat buttery, toasty, gently spicy, ripe lemon-apple meringue nose with a mineral-tinged hints of tropical fruit cocktail. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, quite well structured, toasty, tropical-tinged, slightly spicy, lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, harmonious, minerally, lifted,peach-tinged finish. Barrel fermented and aged on lees for 10 months in French oak (20% new) with no malolactic. This opulent style works well in the ISO glass which augments the acidity. Would pair well with lobster bisque as well as poultry and white meats. Ready-to-drink, it has 13.4% alcohol, 3.2 g/L residual sugar and a hefty life-saving 7 g/L total acidity. This crowd-pleaser is very much in the California style. |
