SYRAH 2021 Hawke's Bay, North Island,sustainable
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TRINITY HILL
Deep intense purple colour. Somewhat earthy, savoury, fallen leaf nose with mature plum-crancherry fruit along with hints of smoky bacon fat. Dry, medium-plus bodied, quite firm, slightly baked plum and dark cherry flavours with sandalwood and gently cedary notes on the lingering faintly bitter finish. Seems a bit awkward/disjointed at the moment albeit fairly well structured. It has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number 031122 and 22297 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. CSPC 194274

TASTING NOTE: Wonderfully fruited and perfumed, the wine shows dark plum, blueberry, floral, olive and toasted almond characters, leading to a gorgeously rounded palate that's ripe and flavoursome. Richly textured and silky, the wine offers terrific fruit purity as well as elegant complexity. At its best: now to 2031. Score - 94 (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, Nov. 2023) Price $ 23.95
