SOAVE 2023 DOC, Veneto, Italy
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BRIGALDARA
Very pale straw colour. Lightish, slightly spicy, fresh, winter-melon-apple nose with some faint mineral notes. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, very slightly spicy, faintly browning, bright, yellow apple flavours with a fairly crisp finish. Versatile and ready-to-drink, it has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L15-24 on the back label. Screwcap closure. At the HST-free price of $13 it is decent value but sadly nowhere near 92-point score quoted in the Vintages Catalogue. CSPC 23030

TASTING NOTE: Sensibly under screw cap, a righteous closure for this sort of pungent, mineral-infused, midweighted white. And very good it is, too, albeit in a more traditional, chewy mold. Orchard fruit, jasmine and a twist of tangerine peel, marking a nobly bitter finish of excellent persistence. Very good drinking. Sustainable. Drink or hold.
