LAS ALTURAS VINEYARD PINOT NOIR 2021 Santa Lucia Highlands, Monterey County
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BELLE GLOS
Tasted at LCBO store 149 on November 30th, this 18th Vintages release of Belle Glos seems to be moving in the right direction. Fairly deep intense purple colour, the nose is intense, slightly spicy, gently juicy and fairly intense with plum-cranberry-raspberry fruit (as opposed to the previous dominant Zin-inspired black cherry aromatics) with some gently cedary notes. Dry, medium+bodied, slightly spicy, armonious, fairly intense, ripe, plum-cranberry-raspberry fruit with a lingering, gently minerally, cedar-tinged finish. Has 14.9% alcohol and now 5 g/L residual sugar (about half of what it used to be). The lot number is L15822 and 221060 appears on the lower part of the glass bottle. CSPC 212076

TASTING NOTE: This is an extremely ripe and bold style of Pinot Noir that will please those seeking such lushness. Dark in the glass, it begins with black cherry, toasty caramel and cola milk shake aromas. The palate is hefty and heavy, carrying ripe berry but also tart red plum skin flavors, as licorice adds spice. Score - 91 (Matt Kettman, Wine Enthusiast, March 1, 2023) Price $ 59.95
