Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BRANDINI
New in Vintages, this was tasted at store 149 on November 30th. Highly esteemed and family-run by Piero Bagnasco and his daughters Giovanna and Serena, Brandini has 18 hc of vineyards and produces 4 Barolo Crus: R56 (Brandini), Annunziata, Meriame and Cerretta in Only 6,190 bottles of this outstanding 2015 were produced. Medium-deep red colour with a slightly ambering edge. Attractive, classy, gently complex, fairly intense, slightly spicy, faintly floral, ripe Damson plum nose with some very faintly earthy, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well balanced, harmonious, elegant, slightly dried, ripe, Damson plums followed up by spice-tinged, sandalwood notes on the lingering finish. It has 14.5% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with L12018 and 26/07/18 on the lower part of the glass bottle. CSPC 39169

TASTING NOTE: Underbrush, scorched earth, hazelnut and menthol aromas slowly take shape on this along with a whiff of violet. Focused and full-bodied, the elegant palate evokes cherry compote, ripe strawberry, star anise and mint alongside polished tannins. Drink 2022-2030.
