TINTO PESQUERA RESERVA 2019 DO Ribera del Duero, Spain
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer FERNANDEZ RIVERA
Pesquera Reserva is a classic 100% Tempranillo from the Ribera del Duero that sees 24 months in American oak. It was founded by Alejandro Fernández in 1972 where he used a small stone press from the 16th century to make his wines. This 2019 was tasted with Alain Laliberte and has a deep intense purple-ruby colour. Attractive, intense, elegant, ripe, plum-cassis fruit on the nose with some cedary-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, intense, ripe Damson plum flavours with a lingering, gently spicy, faintly earthy, dense, harmonious finish. Has 15% alcohol and under 3 g/L residual sugar. One of the best releases to date. CSPC 323345

TASTING NOTE: This brilliant ruby-colored wine has aromas of smoked meats, red raspberry, cassis, and anise. It has ripe red and black fruit flavors of black raspberry, red plum, red currant and just a touch of eucalyptus in the postpalate. The tannins are elegant and silky and the finish is long with a persistence of freshly ground white pepper in the post-palate. Score - 94 (Mike DeSimone, Wine Enthusiast, March 1, 2024) Price $ 49.95
