BEAUJOLAIS BLANC 2023 AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CHÂTEAU DES JACQUES |
NEW in Vintages. This attractive 100% unoaked Chardonnay has a bright pale staw colour and a floral, faintly spicy, ripe, wintermelon-tinged, lemon-apple nose with some faintly toasty notes from spending 8 months on its lees. Dry, quite well structured, slightly spicy, fairly intense, ripe lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, fairly rich, bright, gently complex finish. Stylistically speaking, this serious Beaujolais Blanc is similar to a premium Saint Véran or Pouilly-Fuissé. Perfect with seafood and poultry, it has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. |

TASTING NOTE: This wine is sourced from Clos de Loyse: a 10-hectare plot in Beaujolais first planted by Chartreux monks in 1643, who dug ditches to improve drainage and planted Chardonnay rather than Gamay. Fermented and aged on the lees for eight months, this ripe, elegant wine has white floral tones and tropical fruit. Perfect for shellfish. Drink through 2028+. |
