ASSYRTIKO 2022 PGI Attica, vegan |

A REPEAT of the 2022 that was released on March 2, 2024 at $24.95. Here is my tasting note: This 100% Assyrtiko comes from bush vines grown on unirrigated limestone soil at 100m altitude just south-east of Athens. Pale straw in colour, the fresh, bright, faintly grassy, honeysuckle, yellow grapefruit aromas have a minerally, saline tonaity. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, slightly spicy, ripe, minerally, ripe, apple-lemon and yellow grapefruit flavours with some mineral notes on the lingering finish. The texture and faint hint of egg shell comes from lees aging. All in all, this is an excellent wine for oysters and seafood. It has 13% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L163B23 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: The 2022 Assyrtiko is unoaked and comes in at 13.4% alcohol. A solid Assyrtiko, this is reasonably expressive, well structured and long on the finish. The tension on the finish lifts the fruit and it tastes great. There might be a reductive hint, but overall, this is in fine form. It should hold throughout the decade, more or less. It will be interesting to see if it can also improve over a few years. Many won't care. It drinks great today, and they aren't likely to have much left. Drink date: 2023-2030. Score - 90.
