ROSSO DI MONTALCINO 2022 DOC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
PIAN DELLE VIGNE |
Fairly intense deep red colour, this 100% Sangiovese has a slightly spicy, complex, maturing, warm, ripe, pummy-sandalwood nose with some very faintly savoury notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, nicely structured, harmonious, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, lifted, sandalwood finish. It has 134% alcohol and 2.7 g/L residual sugar. It seems quite ready to enjoy now and should evolve well over the next four years or so. |

TASTING NOTE: Medium ruby in color, the 2022 Rosso Di Montalcino lifts from the glass with expressive aromas of sour cherry pie, medicinal herbs, and orange peel. Tangy and bright, it has good snap up front on the palate, with good continuity and a clean, easygoing finish. It has a lot of personality and is going to be best enjoyed over the next 3-4 years. Maturity: 2024-2028. Score - 90 (Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, Feb. 28, 2024) |
