RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2019 VQA Niagara River, Niagara-on-the-Lake
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer REIF
Fairly deep intense purple colour. Youthful, slightly spicy, intense, dried ripe plum nose with some sandalwood-cedar notes with a hint of dark chocolate. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, very slightly spicy, plum-crancherry flavours with a lingering, somewhat cedary, faintly earthy finish. Best with a steak, it was aged for 24 months in barrels and has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number 2022/08/23 on the upper part of the glass bottle. This 2024 Gold Medal Ontario Wine Award winner is still quite youthful and improved with decanting - it might be worth laying down for a few more years. Note that it is available directly from the winery on sale at only $27.15 - see https://reifwinery.com/ and move quickly. CSPC 304162
