NIAGARA UNFILTERED PINOT NOIR 2020 VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
NORMAN HARDIE |
This 2020 Niagara Peninsula Pinot Noir has more alcohol and structure than the PEC 2019 which is also in this release. Medium-deep reddish colour with a faint amber on the edge. Intense, complex, mineral-driven, rose hip nose with some faintly earthy, sandalwood-tinged, ripe, plum-crancherry notes. Dry , medium bodied and quite well structured with some faintly grippy, still youthful, crancherry fruit flavours along with a mineral driven, lingering, faintly earthy finish. Try with salmon and poulty. It has nice mouthfeel (unfiltered) and has 13.5% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar. Screwcap closure with lot number 20180208 on the lower part of the glass bottle. A repeat of the recommended 2020 that was released on November 4, 2023 at $49.20. |

TASTING NOTE: Excellent poise, with well-defined floral, raspberry, cherry, earth and spice tones. This consistent, elegant wine will be a fine match for roast beef, or salmon steaks. |
