PLAVAC MALI 2019 Dalmatian Coast
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer IVAN DOLAC
Here is the rather distinctive Croatian flagship 100% Plavac Mali has a huge following back home and is now starting to get international attention. It has a deep ruby red colour and an intense, rather spicy, leathery, sandalwood-tinged, ripe, plummy-raspberry nose with some faintly toasty, minerally notes. Fairly dry, medium-full bodied, spicy, gently juicy, bright, ripe, plummy-raspberry fruit flavours with a lingering, minerally, fairly high acid, slightly off-dry, leathery finish. Try with a rack of lamb. It has 14% alcohol and 4.2 g/L residual sugar. The code on the capsule L.24106 suggests that it might have been bottled in April of this year. Seems quite ready-to-drink. TASTING NOTE: Plavac Mali is not unlike Zinfandel, to which it's related, but it tends to be bigger and more fullbodied. This smooth, expressive wine was aged in stainless steel for five years to preserve the purity of the berry fruit and has a refined minerality. Try it with grilled lamb or herb-infused roasted vegetables. Price $ 40.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
