Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CHURCHILL'S |
This Late Bottled Vintage 2004 still has a fairly youthful medium--deep red brick colour. Sweet, intense, spicy, maturing, ripe, plummy, caramel-tinged, raisin butter tart nose. Intense, sweet, medium to medium-full bodied, rich, ripe, intense, plummy-raspberry flavours with a lingering, spicy, lifted, vanilla-caramel finish. Showing well now. This blend of 20% Touriga Nacional, 20% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz, 20% Tinto Cão and 20% Tinta Barroca has 19.5% alcohol and 98 g/L residual sugar. After aging for 4 years in wood vats it is bottled unfiltered into dark Vintage Port bottles and laid down to finish its maturation. Tatsed freshly opened and undecanted. |

TASTING NOTE: Lavish and opulent without losing step with refinement. Mature notes of dried blackberry and raspberry are joined by chocolate and pepper spice, all kept buoyant by a vibrant acidity. |
