SOLESSENCE EXTRA BRUT CHAMPAGNE AC, France |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
JM SÉLÈQU |
NEW in Vintages. Here is a refined very dry blend of 50% Chardonnay, 40% Mennier and 10% Pinot Noir which was blended with wines held back from previous vintages (in this case 50% were Reserve). This non-vintage has a bright medium straw colour with streams of extremely tiny bubbles. Very attractive, intense, faintly spicy, tripe lemon-apple fruit on the nose with toasty warm brioche notes. Dry, medium bodied, very bright, intense, ripe, gently citrusy, lemon-apple flavours with a lingering, harmonious, mineral-tinged, toasty finish. it has 12.5% alcohol and a slight dosage of 2 g/L residual sugar. Disgorged in January 2024 (L0124SLE21) - it is showing beautifully now - the Chardonay shines through and it would be a perfect if served with seafood and poultry as long as it is not over-chilled. |

TASTING NOTE: Based on the 2020 vintage and disgorged in December 2022, the latest rendition of Sélèque's NV Extra Brut Solessence reveals aromas of white flowers, ripe citrus fruit, peach and almond paste. Medium-bodied, ample and pillowy, it's chalky and precise, with a bright spine of acidity and a pure, mineral finish. It's a terrific introduction to the domaine's range. Drink date: 2023-2032. Score - 92+ (William Kelley, robertparker.com, Dec. 14, 2023) |
