MELON DE BOURGOGNE 2018 AC MUSCADET DE SÈVRE ET MAINE
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CHÂTEAU-THÉBAUD
This delicious 2018 Melon de Bourgogne has a forward light yellow color. Very attractive, warm ripe yellow grapefruit, aromatics with some faint toasty notes on the nose. Dry, medium body, well structured, slightly spicy, fairly intense ripe wintermelon, yellow plum and faint yellow grapefruit fruit flavours with a lingering, bright but mature, harmonious, very faintly leafy finish. Mature and ready to drink now with good versatility. Aged for 48 months on its lees, it has 12.8% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L1825 on the back label. Quite unique, it comes in a very heavy bottle. CSPC 541458

TASTING NOTE: This richly flavoured and richly textured muscadet is somewhat out of the muscadet mainstream, and it's a real delight. Aged 48 months on fine lees, it has a fairly weighty and slightly viscous texture, with a flavour profile that's quite pungent and lies in the white and yellow soft fruit zones. The clean acidity clicks in to balance everything, and the result is a delicious wine that's versatile at the table. It's drinking beautifully now and will hold to about 2030.
