ORPALE BLANC DE BLANCS GRAND CRU CHAMPAGNE 2008 AC, France, in gift box
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer DE SAINT-GALL
Bright light gold colour with streams of extremely tiny bubbles. A remarkable, intense, attractive, complex nose focused on buttery, minerally-caramel, whipped cream and ripe, apricot-tinged, Sevelle orange. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, rich, intense, slightly spicy, effervescent, lemon-apple-hazelnut brioche flavours with a lingering, quite rounded but still bright, macadamia nut finish. Judging by the youthful condition of the cork, I suspect that this 100% Chardonnay has seen at least a dozen years on the lees. Truly beautifully balanced and ready-to-drink. It has 12% alcohol and 8 g/L residual sugar. A REPEAT of the 2008 released on August 27, 2022 at $158.95 and not retasted. CSPC 505917
