This NEW in Vintages Paso Robles blend of 7 grapes has a bright purple-red colour. Intense, spicy, very pleasant, juicy, plummy, black cherry nose with some slightly cedary, notes. Dry, medium bodied, very lively, spicy, ripe, juicy, plummy-crancherry flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, harmonious, quite nicely textured finish. This rather commercial, crowd-pleaser is a blend of 25% Grenache, 25% Zinfandel, 20% Syrah, 14% Petite Sirah, 12% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Mourvèdre has 15.2% alcohol and perhaps 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number 02/13/2023 on the back label. TASTING NOTE: The 2021 High on the Hog is composed of 25% Grenache, 25% Zinfandel, 20% Syrah, 14% Petite Sirah, 12% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Mourvèdre. It's scented of red and black plums with touches of tar, turned earth, coffee, chocolate and spicy undertones. The medium to full-bodied palate has generous, juicy fruit, supple, approachable tannins and a long, flavorful finish streaked with spicy accents.
