JORDAN VILLAGE CHARDONNAY 2021 VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LE CLOS JORDANNE
Here are my first impressions upon opening. Bright light straw colour. Intense, fairly spicy, toasty, ripe, lemon-apple meringue nose with some minerally, honeysuckle, ripe pear and faint tropical notes. Dry, medium bodied, slightly spicy, nicely structured, intense, ripe, lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, bright, fairly toasty finish. Try with poultry, ham and/or lamb. This ready-to-drink 100% Chardonnay was fermented and aged in 228L French barrels for about 22 months and has 13.5% alcohol and 2.2 g/L residual sugar with a somwhat low 5.5 g/L total acidity and lot number L230261 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Quite ready-to-drink, it has a screwcap closure and 1,200 cases were produced. Be forewarned that as this 2021 remains open, the toasty-oaky notes become very prominent along with the tropical fruit component something which might appeal to some traditional California Chard fans.
