Bright medium-light yellow colour with streams of extremely tiny bubbles. Very attractive, gently complex, slightly toasty, warm brioche nose with lemon-apple meringue notes. Dry, medium bodied, nicely structured, very bright, ripe lemon-melon-apple flavours with a lingering, well textured, gently toasty, refreshingly bright finish. This 100% Chardonnay has over 5 years of on-the-lees aging and was disgorged on October 31, 2022. It has 12% alcohol, 3.3 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 8.1 g/L total acidity. TASTING NOTE: One of SA's top chardonnay cap classiques, from own vineyards in Franschhoek. Elegant autolytic development & brioche tones from 60% barrel-fermented/aged portion, 5 years on lees. 2017 boasts impressive richness despite being almost bone-dry. Score - 94.
