ARMENIA DRY RED 2022 Vayots Dzor, Aragatsotn
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ARMENIA WINE FACTORY
NEW in Vintages. This high elevation indigenous blend of 65% Areni and 35% Haghtanak - just two of Armenia’s 350+ grape varieties - is worthy of trying. Grown in the Aragatsotn region, this fairly deep red has a gently spicy, plummy-raspberry nose. It is dry, medium bodied, harmonious, gently spicy, ripe, plummy, black-cherry-cranberry flavours with a lingering, lifted, bright, sandalwood-tinged finish. This food-friendly blend works perfectly with hot-of-the-grill sausages. It has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L-A234 on the back label. CSPC 37742

TASTING NOTE: Armenia has a rich cultural history of winemaking. The Vayots Dzor region is where the oldest-dated wine (over 6,000 years old) was discovered. Made from the native grapes Areni and Haghtanak, this aromatic, spicy red shows flavours of roasted bell pepper, baking spices and cocoa. Price $ 21.95
