CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2021 California
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MEIOMI
I am pleased to report that this new editon of Meiomi 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon now comes in a lighter Bordeaux-styed bottle. Unfortunately for my palate, the style remains the same. It is sweetish, juicy, smooth and loaded with oak, a formula that lots of people will enjoy. Extremely deep intense purple colour. Sweet, intense, black cherry purée nose with lots of cedary notes. Gently sweet, medium-bodied, dark chocolate tinged, rich, ripe, juicy black cherry purée flavours with a lingering, cedary finish. Ready-to-drink. The last batch of this blended Cabernet Sauvignon based red had 13.7% alcohol and 33 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. This one seems quite similar - although the LCBO reports that it now has 24 g/L residual sugar. The lot number 230221 appears on the lower part of the glass bottle. CSPC 20765

TASTING NOTE: The 2021 vintage in California was another drought-impacted growing season and the conditions resulted in smaller berries, which translates to wines of greater concentration and bolder fruit flavours. This Cabernet from Meiomi has the ripeness and power of the vintage, with sumptuous cassis, blackberry, toasty vanilla, earth, spice, and a lifted minty herbal note. Great for barbecued meats with spicy rubs. Price $ 24.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
