ENTOURAGE GRAND RESERVE BRUT SPARKLING 2017 Traditional method, VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

JACKSON-TRIGGS |
Here is my updated 2017 note based on a bottle just purchased at the LCBO. Bright light straw colour with streams of tiny bubbles. Attractive, slightly spicy, fresh, Anjou-pear-tinged, ripe, lemon-apple meringue nose with some toasty-mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, fairly complex, ripe, lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, crisp, toasty-brioche finish and fine effervescence. This nicely textured totally new 2017 blend of 70% Chardonnay, 27% Pinot Noir and 3% Pinot Meunier was tiraged (put in bottle) in February 2018 and disgorged in July 2022 with now 53 months on the lees. It has 13% alcohol, 5 g/L residual sugar and 8 g/L total acidity with the code L220712 (July 12, 2022) on the shipping case. |

Light gold in colour with aromas of baked apple, yellow grapefruit and a touch of honey. Light creamy mousse with some autolytic yeasty character on the mid-palate to finish. Harmonious with a long crisp finish of apple pie and stone fruit. Tasted blind June 2022. Silver Medal winner at the 2022 National Wine Awards of Canada. Score - 89.
