GRATIOT-DELUGNY EMILE CHAMPAGNE 2005 AC, France |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
GRATIOT DELUGNY |
This Gratiot Delugny Cuvee Emile is 100% Chardonnay and now 18 years old. It has a bright medium yellow colour and shows fine complexity with slightly spicy, faintly honeyed, ripe, apple-lemon meringue fruit with hints of caramel. On the palate it is quite dry, medium bodied and attractive with very slightly spicy, bright, warm, ripe, lemon-apple pie flavours with a rounded, lingering finish. This crowd-pleaser has 12% alcohol and 8 g/L residual sugar with lot number 220305 on the back label. A joy to just sip, the very youthful appearance of the cork with the code L21 and 2005 suggests that this might may well have been disgorged just last year. |

A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection! |
TASTING NOTE: A great opportunity to enjoy some mature Champagne. Look for honeyed fruit, toast, and an underlying mushroom note. The intensity of flavour will be best paired with roast duck or smoked salmon. This wine could continue to drink until 2025. |
