IL BRUCIATO 2020 DOC Bolgheri
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer GUADO AL TASSO
This 2020 blend of approximately 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Syrah (with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and
Petit Verdot) has a very deep intense ruby-purple colour. The nose shows lots of intense, ripe fruit - Damson plum, ripe red cherry and blackberry with refined nuances of vanilla along with some minerality. Dry, medium-full bodied and nicely structured with concentrated, ripe, plummy, red and black cherry flavours plus a lingering, mouthfilling, complex, cedar-sandalwood-tinged finish. It has 13.5% alcohol and 1.9 g/L residual sugar with lot number L1273 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Richer and more impressive than the recommended 2019 (***) that was released on September 18, 2021 at $26.95.

TASTING NOTE: I tasted the Guado al Tasso 2020 Bolgheri Rosso Il Bruciato from barrel, but the wine will hit the market in September of this year. Compared to the previous vintage, this edition is richer and slightly denser with nicely concentrated fruit. That extra textural support is a characteristic of this fortunate vintage. This accessible blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah offers tight mineral notes, toasted spice, almond and lots of dark, luscious fruit. To the palate, the wine exhibits softly caressing tannins. Drink date: 2022-2027. Score - 93 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Aug. 24, 2021) Price $ 29.95
