ESTATE GROWN CABERNET FRANC 2020 VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CAVE SPRING
This very tasty, still youthful, nicely structured 100% Cabernet Franc has a hefty 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. A great match for tomato-based Italian recipes, it has a bright very deep purple colour. The nose is slightly spicy and faintly herbal with intense, bright, plummy fruit and minerally, cedar-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, bright, tangy and faintly herbal with fresh, still youthful, ripe plum flavours with a lingering, crisp, somewhat cedary finish. This well-priced red that calls for the right food pairing and with a hefty 6.7 g/L total acidity it should really appeal to cool-climate Cab Franc fans. Aged for 14 months in 225L and 500L oak barrels, 95% neutral and 5% new French and is unfiltered. Has lot number L06052022 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Showing nicely, it will get better with aging. CSPC 523001
