CUVÉE RÉSERVE BOURGOGNE PINOT NOIR 2020 AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

ROCHE DE BELLENE |
This 2020 is a very good example of the pure, still youthful Pinot Noir character that typifies a well-made, ripe Bourgogne. Fairly deep intense purple colour. Rather spicy, bright, youthful, ripe, harmonious, plum-cherry-raspberry nose with some minerally, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, tangy, youthful, attractive, fresh, ripe, bright, plum-raspberry-cherry flavours with a very gently cedary, nicely structured, crisp finish. Has 12% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L21174-01 on the lower part of the glass bottle. When I taste this, I think of coq au vin. It will even be better in 12 months from now. |

TASTING NOTE: This is a ruby coloured, youthful pinot with just a bit more ripeness and richness than expected from a basic Bourgogne. Quite fine, soft cherry jam, violet, spice and vanillin are evenly presented on the nose. It is medium bodied, rounded, generous and almost elegant with very fine tannin. Scoring here on balance. The length is very good to excellent. I would sock a few bottles away as I hear their are hefty price increases coming from Burgundy. Best 2023 to 2028. Tasted July 2022.
