VIÑEDOS DE MONTAÑA CABERNET FRANC 2018 Los Chacayes, Valle de Uco, Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

RICCITELLI |
NEW in Vintages. This 100% Cabernet Franc has an extremely deep intense purple colour. The nose shows wonderful complexity and purity of fruit - intense, bright, fresh Damson plum and wild strawberries along with hints of violets, roses and a very slight savoury note. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, harmonious, gently spicy, ripe, plummy, strawberry-cassis flavours with a lingering, fairly complex, bright, well textured finish. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in small concrete vats and then aged for 16 months in French oak foudres. Has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L17522 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: The intensely spicy and peppery 2018 Viñedos de Montaña Cabernet Franc is an aromatic expression of the grape, where I also found floral nuances and some herbs. The flavors were pungent and penetrating, with good depth and small-grained tannins. It was produced with grapes from two different vineyards, one in Los Arbolitos in Chacayes at 1,150 meters above sea level and the other one in Campo de los Andes at some 1,300 meters in altitude. I loved the nose, and the palate was nothing short of phenomenal also, nicely textured and with serious tannins, spicy and herbal, and with a dry, austere finish. Drink date: 2021-2027. Score - 94 (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, March 31, 2021) |
