THE PRISONER 2019 |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

This 2019 Vintages Essential was tasted from a bottle purchased at the LCBO - it is not in the November 5th release. Extremely deep intense purple colour. Fairly juicy, spicy, baked ripe plum-cherry nose with lots of cedary notes. Slightly off dry, medium to medium-full bodied, smooth, fairly complex, spicy, intense, ripe plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, bright, cedary, slightly raisiny, fairly high acid finish. This big bucks, slightly sweetish, juicy, commercial blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Charbono was acquired by Constellation Brands in 2016 and has 15.5% alcohol and 8 g/L residual sugar with lot number L0135-2101 on the lower part of the glass bottle. |

This bold blend combines Zinfandel with Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Charbono to create a robust, ripe, smooth salute to the \"mixed-blacks\" field blends of early Italian immigrants to California. Named for and featuring the 1807 etching by Francisco de Goya on the label, this is a wine that will deliver dark chocolate and clove alongside rich dark fruit tones. A powerhouse wine that calls for a grilled steak.
