PINOT NOIR 2021 California
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MEIOMI
This rather pricey (an astonishing $31.90 for 750 ml) uber commercial California Pinot Noir will appeal to wine neophytes who enjoy rounded, robust, jammy wines which, at least in this case, have absolutely nothing to do with the real thing. Meoimi has a surprisingly deep intense purple colour which suggests that other grape varietals might have been blended in with the Pinot Noir. It has an intense, spicy, ripe black cherry purée nose accompanied by vanilla, buttered toast and mocha-chocolate. Off dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, juicy, ripe, plummy-black-cherry jam flavours with a lingering, toasty, somewhat cedary finish. It has 13.7% alcohol and 22 g/L residual sugar (26 g/L at the SAQ where a full bottle sells for $22.95 vs. $23.95 at the LCBO). The lot number 26210751924-41 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. Not bad as a red wine, but unfortunately, not so good as a Pinot Noir. CSPC 26797

TASTING NOTE: This small size of our Essential (130138) still packs a big punch. It's extroverted and bold, with that telltale weighty texture alongside generous, sweet-edged dark and red fruit, cedar, clove, mocha and toast. A wine to enjoy over the next 2-3 years. Price $ 15.95
Bottle Size 375 mL
