RESERVE CABERNET FRANC 2018 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer INNISKILLIN
A REPEAT of the 2018 (***) that was last released on September 18, 2021 at $25.95. Unfortunately it does not appear in the November Vintages Catalogue. Assessed from a bottle just purchased at the LCBO. Fairly deep intense purple colour. The nose has some savoury, crancherry fruit along with a touch of leather. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structure with slightly spicy, faintly leathery, firm, slightly grippy, plum-crancherry flavours with a somewhat herbaceous, lingering, gently cedary finish. It still seem that it could use another year or so of aging. It has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with same lot number L2008187H-13 on the lower part of the glass bottle. CSPC 17290

TASTING NOTE: A cool climate cabernet franc with classic varietal character, gravelly, graphite, and tart black fruit driven. I love the succulent acids and the grainy tannins - this will be a bit astringent for some, but there's ample potential to soften in time. Length is also very good. Textbook stuff. Tasted October 2021. Score - 91 (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com) Price $ 25.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
