THE OLD DOG SHIRAZ 2019 Vegan, Barossa Valley, South Australia

Very deep intense purple colour. Attractive, intense, slightly smoky, gently complex, expansive, ripe, plummy-black-cherry nose with some sandalwood, licorice and smoky, cedary notes. Dry medium-full bodied, quite well structured, spicy, juicy, intense, ripe, black-cherry-cassis-plum flavours with a lingering, harmonious, albeit fairly pungent, lingering, cedary, very faintly off-dry, mocha-chocolate-inspired finish. This versatile, ready-to-drink, crowd-pleasing Barossa Valley Shiraz has 14% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L042122 on the back label. Screwcap closure. CSPC 13030

TASTING NOTE: This wine features expansive Shiraz character, with generous dark and roasted fruit tones alongside well-managed oak and evocative spice. Pair this real value with braised beef or a hearty mushroom stew. Decant before serving, as the natural-winemaking techniques used by Shanahans can result in the presence of some sediment. Drink till 2029+. [The Australian Wine Showcase did not include a tasting note.] Score - 95 (Australian Wine Showcase) Price $ 21.95
