SOFIA BRUT ROSÉ Charmat method, Monterey County |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
Francis Ford Coppola |
This was last released on September 16, 2017 at $37.95. Bright very light salmon pink colour. Slightly spicy, faintly honeyed, citrus-tinged, apple-lemon nose. Dry, medium-light bodied, slightly spicy, mineral-tinged, ripe apple-lemon-melon flavours with a lingering, crisp, refreshing, ffervescent finish. This ready-to-drink,crowd-pleasin blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay has 12% alcohol and 9 g/L residual sugar with lot number 20210819 on the lower part of the glass bottle. This sparkler comes from Monterey County and has the traditional cork closure although it is actually made in the Charmat (tank) method. It now comes in a clear cellophane bag that says Delicato Family Vineyards as they acquired most of the Francis Ford Coppola winery portfolio on June 24, 2021. Vintages sells it for 20% more than the SAQ's $33.25 price thanks to Quebec's lower mark-up system. |

TASTING NOTE: Styled after the sparkling rosés of France, this pink fizz offers light effervescence, crisp natural acidity, and a light, creamy texture. Look for notions of citrus, strawberry and ginger, with a soft, easy finish. |
